The Photography Experience
01 | Inquire
Introduce yourself! Tell me all the details — no detail is too small! I love hearing about your vision.
02 | Consultation
We’ll schedule a call to go over what you’re looking for. Feel free to bring any inspiration and questions you may have.
03 | Booking Proposal
I’ll prepare a booking proposal and send it over. Once you’ve signed your contract and submitted payment, we’ll jump into the fun, creative part.
04 | Questionnaire + Mood Board
Through these, we’ll get super specific about the transformation you want to see. I’ll ask more logistical questions, but also questions like, “If your brand were a song, what would it be?”
05 | Strategy Call
This helps ensure we’re on the same page and we’ll walk away with a game plan so your session is as strategic as possible.
06 | Photoshoot
The day is here! Since we’ll have planned so much beforehand, today is our day to have fun and, basically, create magic.
07 | Receive your photographs
After your photoshoot, I'll apply my base edits to all the photos and upload them to a proofing gallery. From there, you will be able to select which photographs are your favorites and if you'd like to purchase any additional ones. Once you submit your favorites, I’ll do my final edits on those. You can expect the final images within 2 weeks presented in a password-secured online gallery. If you need the images sooner because you are on a specific timeline, we can discuss a personalized timeline.

Photoshoot FAQs
-
Many of my clients have shared these exact feelings with me. It’s completely normal and we will ease into the photoshoot. We’ll incorporate movement so the poses don’t feel stiff, and we may use props which also helps. If we're shooting indoors, we can play your favorite type of music!
Another way I ensure you get the best results is by letting you choose which photographs I'll do final edits for. After our session, I’ll upload hundreds of photos for you to select your favorites from.
And one last thing! Throughout the session, I’ll show you the images I'm capturing so that we can adjust as needed. I find the more collaborative a shoot is, the better! -
I’m based out of NYC, but a big reason of why I love being a photographer is because it can take me anywhere! Reach out if you’re elsewhere and let’s see what my upcoming travel schedule looks like! Please keep in mind that I may require a travel fee.
Overall, photoshoot location is something we'll talk about early on and throughout the planning stage. If the place makes sense for the brand and ideal client, then the next factor we'll need to think about is if it'll photograph well. If it's an indoor space like your apartment or office, I'll request photos and videos (and may even need to do a location scout) to see if we can achieve the look you want.
I typically photograph on-site, in a rented studio space, or outdoors. I’ve also had clients reach out to specific places to request photographing there. Please keep in mind, we may also need to acquire a permit to shoot in certain locations. -
I tend to edit slightly warm; I feel like this adds an element of warmth and connection — which most businesses usually want to emote. I have also been told my photography comes across as authentic, editorial, and poetic. I lovingly edit each photo by hand and will edit for brightness and color. I'll crop and straighten, and depending on which collection you purchase, I may occasionally remove distracting things from the background if I feel this is both possible and will overall make the photo stronger. I also may do some light retouching (i.e. removing a pimple, but not removing a scar). I firmly believe that you are beautiful the way you are, and I'm here to showcase and enhance you, not change you.
-
Yes! I encourage you to pack as many outfits as you want, keeping in mind that anytime you’re changing is time we’re taking away from shooting. Some of my clients have an entire suitcase, others have a backpack.
-
I love a good payment plan. I require a nonrefundable 50% deposit to secure your date, and then the remaining 50% can be divided. However, please note, the amount must be paid in full before the shoot.

My high school offered an internship program for the last 6 weeks of school. We could intern anywhere we wanted. My friend connected me with a photographer she knew and that month and a half was, frankly, life-changing. It's like I learned how to really –see– even perhaps how to really feel. I later interned as a photojournalist for the local paper.
From there I went to undergrad and eventually grad school, becoming a middle school ELA teacher.
During a mid-winter break, surrounded by hundreds of essays to grade and not on a tropical beach (even though every non-teacher liked to remind me, "But you get so many breaks!"), I confronted the idea that my work-life balance was suffering and I evaluated the trajectory of my burnout. But I continued.
And then the pandemic hit.
At the end of that school year, I knew I couldn't sign on for the fall. I didn't want to stay in a broken education system that I had tried to stay optimistic about – emotionally deteriorated, further deteriorated by the demands the pandemic had put on all of us. Ultimately, I knew I didn't want to stay until true mental exhaustion, when resentment would begin to seep into the way I showed up for my students. And so I left behind a childhood-long dream.
In deciding what to do, and through conversation with friends and family, I started to see my summer side hustle as a viable full-time opportunity. I rebranded my business (those of you who have been around since the beginning remember Ebbs 'n' Flows Photography) and switched from photographing engagements/weddings/maternity/families to photographing businesses.
Most people ask if I was scared to make the leap and, honestly, not at all. Having grown up around business owners and creatives, the transition didn't feel scary; it actually felt natural.
But as any business owner knows, highs and lows emerge. And what I realized is that the ebbs and flows that come with owning your own business and making the final decisions, extract a certain level of perseverance.
And it's actually this exact perseverance and passion that I love to see when I photograph other businesses.
In the end, I'm actually not even sure if it's about photography specifically. In some ways, I view photography as the current means to express my creativity, and as a way to help tell people's stories of perseverance.
