Interior + Exterior Work — Upstate NY Airbnb Photoshoot

Rock Stream, New York

When capturing interiors, I think it’s important to do two things: 1) orient the viewer and 2) tell a story.

For this Airbnb photoshoot, we wanted them to stand out. We decided to hire a couple to model because we felt, that way, potential guests could easily envision themselves enjoying themselves there, and ultimately feel more inclined to book.

When telling an interiors story, I find it helpful to incorporate senses.

What will they experience — in every sense of the word.

What will they hear? Taste? Feel? Smell? See?

As you saw, some examples we used in just these photos:

  • The sound of records among the stillness, the sound of the tea kettle

  • The taste of the wine and charcuterie, the taste of the hot tea that’s made from the boiling water

  • The feel of relaxing on the sofa and bed

  • The smell of the fresh, crisp air

  • The view using the telescope on the 25 acre property

Ultimately, we wanted to play on the nostalgia of the property — the stillness offered from disconnecting from society and the time-traveling to a simpler time.

You can view the airbnb space and see how they used their photos in their listing, Buttonwood Hollow.
