Introduction
For Jessica's photoshoot, we focused on images that felt powerful and playful. As a coach and consultant, Jessica’s work focuses on helping overachieving first and second generation immigrants overcome survival mentality to re-integrate peace, purpose, and play into their daily lives.
Interestingly, Jess and I are both Filipina, former teachers, and had lived *blocks* away from each when she still lived here in NYC. We just didn’t cross paths in that stage of our lives.
A couple of years later, we met at an event — she was moderating and I was photographing.
Since then, we’ve attended events together and chatted over coffees and dinners about all sorts of things to all varying degrees.
Months later, she flew from Miami to NYC for her branding photoshoot to launch her new coaching and consulting business.
Our Process
In her own words:
“JessSayIt is on a mission to help overachieving first and second generation immigrants overcome survival mentality to re-integrate peace, purpose, and play into their daily lives. We’re committed to helping founders, entrepreneurs, and professionals unlock their fullest potential, overcome challenges, and achieve their goals. We do this by unpacking genuine emotions and recenter individuals’ minds and bodies to reintegrate wellness and play.”
Knowing this, we wanted to choose a location and poses that reflected a down-to-earth, strong presence. We also wanted the images to feel inspiring so we opted for a lighter color palette in terms of location and outfits.
